           Not a groom in site.

In Izmit, geography teacher Ozlem Yet (38) declared that
"a groom isn't a requirement for a wedding", when she
couldn't find a candidate to her liking.  So she went ahead
with a wedding by herself.

Last Wednesday Yet staged her rural wedding in the garden
of the Lastik-Is Union and wore the wedding gown of her
dreams, while living it up with her friends. Then, Yet boarded
the bride's car and went home.

When news of the groom-less wedding became known,
however, Yet shut her Facebook page and disappeared.
Her friends explained that "her family didn't know anything
about this wedding and when they heard they were upset."

I'm only watching the sea. Really.

In Zonguldak, on Tuesdays and Thursdays only women
can use Kapuz Beach, which is run by the city. The day
before yesterday a group of women at the beach, asserting
that "we don't want a male lifeguard!", tried to force the
beach director and 31-year lifeguard Hayri Topcuoglu down
from the lifeguard tower.

Commenting on the situation, Topcuoglu had this to say:
"There's not a female lifeguard at any beach. If we don't
keep watch over the water how can we save someone
from drowning? They're not thinking about their own lives."
