Tarihi eser savunması: Düğünümde takıldı
'Wedding presents'?  Tell it to the Marines, honey.

Gendarmerie units in Adilcevaz district of Bitlis province launched
an operation in Gümüşdöven village to recover the murder weapons
used in a armed battle between two feuding families on 2 November
that resulted in the deaths of 4 people and the wounding of 9 more.

During a search of a house in Gümüşdöven the Gendarmerie found
103 pieces of  historical treasures from the Byzantine, Selçuk and
Ottoman periods, to include a double-headed eagle, gold money with
the Ottoman sultan's seal, statuettes, copper and silver jewelry and
a large number of coins.

No doubt a future gift for her first-born Attila.

The treasures were turned over to the Ahlat Museum Directorate.
In her statement, the woman suspected in the case asserted that the
treasures were 'my wedding presents'.

Behice Ö. must have been a Marine in another life.

In Başakşehir district of Istanbul, housewife Behice Ö (45) handed
over two kilograms of gold to swindlers who called her pretending
to be the police.  The swindlers told Behice Ö., whose two sons are
jewelers, that "your son robbed a jewelry store so we have to get
his fingerprints off the gold in your house. He's in custody now,
which is why you have to give us all the gold. Otherewise he'll go
to jail."

A while later the swindlers showed up at Behice Ö.'s house in a
car with 'police' written on it (!).  Behice Ö. then surrendered a
one-kilogram gold ingot and gold bracelets and jewelry valued at
210,000 TL (about 70,000 USD) to the 'police', who promised to
return the gold later.

When they failed to come back Behice Ö. realized that she had
been duped and called the (real) police. Behice Ö. explained that
"they had my ID information right. When the one who said he
was a prosecutor said 'your son will be jailed' I got scared and
did what they said."
