Looks appetizing but...

Hacer G., a woman living in Ankara, ended up in court because
of an interesting trap she laid for her ex-boyfriend.  According to
the indictment against Hacer G. prepared by the Ankara public
prosecutor, the incident came to pass as follows:

Hacer G. worked in the meatball shop owned by Nadir Ş. for 4
days.  During this time the two became romantically involved
but the relationship ended and Nadir Ş. fired Hacer G., changing
the lock on the door, as well.

          ...the resemblance is uncanny.

Hacer G. took great exception to this and at 3 o'clock in the morning
she had a locksmith open the door. Once inside the shop, Hacer G.
put cough medicine and a laxative into the meatball ingredients,
sleeping medicine into the tea and sugar, and dishwashing soap into
the teapot.  Then she turned the gas on.

When Nadir Ş. arrived at the shop in the morning, he smelled the
gas, got suspicious and went to the police station to file a complaint.
Samples of the food were tested by the Keçiören District Food,
Agriculture and Animal Laboratory, as well as at the Güvenliği
Laboratory HQs.  No poisons were found but the food was inedible (!).

Hacer G. denied the charges but faces a jail term of from 1 year
and seven months up to 10 years. The case will be heard in the
coming days.

Turkish-Russian relations take another hit, literally.

On 30 June, Mustafa Kemal Sümer (34), a member of the Diyarbakır
bar, wounded Liudmila Peregon (35), also a lawyer, who lived in the
next flat in an apartment building in Konyaaltı, Antalya, with a shot
from his revolver in the guard shack.  A case was brought against
Sümer and a life sentence was requested by the prosecutor.

Sümer's lawyer Alper Tunga Bacanlı claimed that there was a
romantic relationship between Sümer and Peregon.  According to
Bacanlı, Peregon had gone to a fortune-teller in Russia who told
her that "Kemal will marry someone else and become rich.  You'll
die in an accident."

So Peregon wanted to become pregnant by Sümer and prove the
fortune-teller wrong.  However, when Sümer didn't take the bait
and ignored Peregon, she took up with her old husband Levent A.
to make Sümer jealous.  This ploy worked, but too well - Sümer
got jealous and shot Peregon.

Konyaaltı beach is on the west side of Antalya city.
